DOT Internet is the fastest internet provider in Dhaka

Dhaka, the vibrant capital of Bangladesh, is undergoing a remarkably dynamic digital transformation. To examine what the local network infrastructure looks like, we analyzed 12,000 speed tests conducted between June 2025 and May 2026 by users of www.speedgeo.net and the SpeedGeo app, created by the company V-SPEED. 

Dhaka: Hundreds of Providers and Fiber Optic Dominance

The capital's market is growing rapidly, and competition among providers is fierce. The scale of change is reflected in the fact that internet speeds in Dhaka increased sixfold between 2023 and 2026 - from 14 Mb/s in 2023 to 87 Mb/s in 2026 (January-June).

The broadband internet market in Bangladesh, and particularly in the capital, is extremely fragmented. Unlike the mobile market, where four major operators compete, the broadband segment is home to hundreds of internet service providers. These are typically small, local companies operating within a single district or parts of one (so-called Neighborhood ISPs).

In terms of technology, the market has been almost entirely dominated by fiber optics (FTTH - Fiber to the Home). As a result, residents of the capital have access to symmetrical connections with high stability. Strong competition and direct fiber runs to buildings have made fast internet a widely available and affordable commodity. 

DOT Internet is Dhaka's Fastest Internet Provider

Only 4 operators in Dhaka met the minimum threshold of 2% share in tests conducted in the city. The fastest internet provider in the capital, and simultaneously the most popular one (measured by test share), is DOT Internet, with a result of 128.3 Mb/s. The next two places are taken by fiber optic operators (Sam Online and Link3). All of these operators offer symmetrical connections and very low latency (13-14 ms). In fourth place is GrameenPhone, a mobile operator that also provides mobile broadband services.
