DTAC is the provider of the fastest mobile and 5G internet in Thailand (March 2026)
Publication date: 17/03/2026
The telecommunications market in Thailand has for years been considered one of the most dynamic in Southeast Asia. Thanks to the early implementation of 5G technology and intense competition between major players, the country has become a regional leader in the availability of modern mobile services. Based on 130,000 tests performed on 3G/4G/5G networks by V-SPEED users (the owner of the SpeedGeo app) between March 2025 and February 2026, we have verified which network offered the highest download speed.

Competition and 5G Deployment
The mobile market in Thailand is driven by the rivalry between three major players: AIS, True, and DTAC. Although True and DTAC merged in 2023, and despite their ongoing brand integration, they continue to appear as separate networks in rankings-a fact also reflected in the Speedgeo statistics.
A critical milestone for the market’s evolution was the 2020 5G frequency auctions. At that time, the national regulator, NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission), allocated bands across three key ranges: 700 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 26 GHz. Furthermore, in 2025, the state auctioned the 2300 MHz and 2100 MHz bands. Following this shift, the parent company of DTAC and True now holds a larger spectrum portfolio.
DTAC: The Leader in Mobile Internet Speed
In the overall category, which encompasses all available technologies (3G/4G/5G), DTAC takes the lead in terms of download speeds. DTAC achieved a result of 39 Mbps, outperforming AIS (36,5 Mbps) and True (32,5 Mbps). The highest upload speed (13,1 Mbps) and the lowest latency (42 ms) are offered by AIS, although its advantage over the other operators remains marginal.

Latency [ms] |
| DTAC | 38,9 | 11,8 | 44 |
| AIS | 36,5 | 13,1 | 42 |
| TRUE | 32,5 | 12,2 | 44 |
DTAC Also Delivers the Fastest 5G in Thailand
It is in the 5G segment that the full potential of Thailand’s infrastructure becomes apparent, although the results suggest that the network still has a significant margin for optimization compared to global standards.
Just as with general mobile internet, DTAC emerges as the winner in the 5G category, reaching a 92,8 Mbps download speed. DTAC is also the leader in upload speeds, with a result of 24 Mbps.

Latency [ms] |
| DTAC | 92,7 | 23,9 | 40 |
| AIS | 83,1 | 18,6 | 38 |
| TRUE | 61,1 | 19,4 | 42 |
Summary
SpeedGeo data confirms that Thailand possesses a robust mobile infrastructure, and the battle for customers has shifted to the field of 5G performance. The differences between the results of DTAC and True are surprising, given that both operators utilize similar infrastructure. It is possible that the structure of their service offers influences the achieved speeds.
