Ooredoo Leads 5G Speeds in Tunisia One Year After Launch (February 2026)

Publication date: 16/02/2026

One year after the rollout of 5G services in Tunisia, we are summarizing the speed performance of operators in this technology. The report is based on network tests conducted by users of the SpeedGeo measurement platform, owned by V-SPEED

5G Implementation in Tunisia

Tunisia officially entered the 5G era on February 14, 2025, when the three major operators-Tunisie Telecom, Ooredoo, and Orange launched commercial next-generation services. This process was the result of a national digital strategy aimed at modernizing infrastructure and accelerating the economy.

Each operator received equal spectrum resources from the government: 100 MHz in the 3,5 GHz band (crucial for high speeds) and 5 MHz in the 700 MHz band (ensuring wide coverage). These licenses were granted for a 15-year period, sparking intense competition for the title of the fastest provider in the region.

Ooredoo: The Fastest 5G Internet Provider (February 2026)

The latest data collected by SpeedGeo over a 12-month period (February 14, 2025 - February 13, 2026) shows clear differences in performance among individual operators during the first year of 5G technology operation.

The highest number of tests (48%) was performed on the Ooredoo network, followed by 35% on Tunisie Telecom, and 15% on Orange.

5G Test Distribution and Average Speeds in Tunisia:

Ooredoo emerged as the provider of the fastest 5G internet in terms of download speed, achieving a result of 175,4 Mbps and outpacing second-ranked Tunisie Telecom by more than 40 Mbps.

Ooredoo also triumphed in the upload category. Reaching 30,6 Mbps, the operator provided users with the best conditions for uploading large files or conducting video transmissions. Tunisie Telecom ranked second in both categories, while Orange lags notably behind the market leaders. This might stem from a different network rollout strategy, focusing on 5G expansion within the slower 700 MHz band.

The 5G results also influenced the overall mobile internet speed ranking (3G/4G/5G) in Tunisia for the same period. Ooredoo takes the lead here as well (46,8 Mbps), followed by Tunisie Telecom (36,6 Mbps) and Orange (26 Mbps).
