T-Mobile delivers Fastest Mobile Internet and 5G in the US in 2025

Twice as fast mobile internet from T-Mobile

T-Mobile maintains its position as the leader in the US mobile internet market, offering an average download speed of 184 Mb/s in January 2025. This is a result twice as good as competing networks: AT&T (92 Mb/s) and Verizon (91 Mb/s). The differences are less significant in the case of upload, but T-Mobile still leads with a result of (19 Mb/s) ahead of Verizon (15 Mb/s) and AT&T (13 Mb/s).

T-Mobile with the fastest 5G in the USA

When it comes to 5G technology, T-Mobile also remains at the top. In January 2025, the average 5G speed reached 273 Mb/s, giving it an advantage over Verizon (208 Mb/s) and AT&T (165 Mb/s).

What is behind T-Mobile's advantage?

T-Mobile gained an advantage by purchasing Sprint along with the 2.5 GHz band (mid-band 5G), and then acquiring local licenses for this band. This band provides a good balance between coverage and internet speed. The two rivals initially focused on the mmWave band, which allows for very high speeds, but over short distances. Later, Verizon and AT&T began investing in C-band 5G (3.7 GHz).

T-Mobile has built the largest 5G coverage and was the first to introduce standalone 5G. It also integrates various frequencies for 5G to further optimize internet speed.
