Internet Speed - Performance Overview

The data was collected during the third quarter of 2024, analyzing the results of speed tests from the three main telecommunications operators:

Average Internet Speed in Morocco

  • Fixed Internet: 27.3 Mb/s (download), 21.6 Mb/s (upload), 54 ms (ping).
  • Mobile Internet: 40.8 Mb/s (download), 15.0 Mb/s (upload), 57 ms (ping).

Morocco is at the forefront of the region, offering some of the most stable and fastest fixed connections in North Africa.

Morocco Telecom

Founded in 1998, it provides fixed telephony, mobile telephony and Internet access services. The company serves around 23 million customers in Morocco and its activities also extend to 11 African countries such as Benin, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, the Central African Republic and Togo.

Maroc Telecom, also known as IAM, is listed on the stock exchanges of Casablanca and Paris. The company's main shareholder is Etisalat, based in the United Arab Emirates, which holds a 53% stake, while 22% of the shares are held by the Moroccan government. The operator offers comprehensive telecommunications services, including prepaid and postpaid plans, 2G, 3G, 4G technologies, and is preparing the 5G infrastructure, international roaming, and a variety of value-added services.

Orange (formerly Méditel)

The company offers mobile telephony, fixed telephony, cybersecurity, and mobile payment services. It was founded in 1999 and is a subsidiary of Orange S.A. Orange currently serves approximately 14.2 million customers in Morocco.

The operator offers a wide range of services, including prepaid and postpaid plans, 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies, and is also testing 5G infrastructure and international roaming.

Fixed and mobile services, including fiber optics and LTE, provide fast and stable connections, which is an important aspect of the operator's development.

For several years, Orange has been developing data transmission and cloud computing solutions. The operator's commitment to corporate social responsibility by expanding internet access in remote regions of the country is also a distinctive area of activity.

INWI (formerly Wana)

The operator offers comprehensive mobile, fixed-line, and internet services. The company began operations in 1999 by introducing 3G, 4G, and, more recently, 5G technologies. INWI covers more than 92% of the country's territory, earning it recognition from its customers.

INWI offers flexible prepaid and postpaid plans, as well as high-speed internet via ADSL, fiber, and mobile networks, tailored to both residential and business customers. The operator actively supports the development of technology and communities, as evidenced by its "Dir Iddik" initiative aimed at promoting volunteerism and its collaboration with start-up incubators such as Numa Casablanca.

Thanks to INWI's continuous investment in infrastructure, it serves more than 12.5 million users.
